Walt Disney was born December 5, 1901
in Chicago, Illinois. Walt Disney was born to Elas and Flora Disney. Walt was
one of five children in the Disney household. He had three brothers and one
sister. In 1911 his family moved to Kansas City Missouri. Disney started to
like trains after moving to Kansas city near his uncle, Mike Martin, who was a train engineer that worked the
railroads between Fort Madison Iowa and Marceline Missouri. Disney started to
like trains because of how they were gateways to new adventures and places. He
liked trains because of the journey they behold. Some of his and Ub Iwerks best
creations were made while riding on a train, like Mickey Mouse.
Disney attended McKinley High School in Chicago, Illinois where he took drawing and photography classes. Walt Disney also became a cartoonist for his high school newspaper. After turning 16, Walt Disney dropped out of high school and decided to join the army. Disney was rejected by the Army because he was only 16 years old so he was underage. Walt Disney decided to go to France to drive an ambulance. Which the ambulance that Walt drove was not covered camouflage, but in cartoons. This part of his life leads him to many struggles with his business because he had budget.
